Charge your phone by walking with this device
Normally, many people listen to music while doing exercise like walking or jogging. At that time, they feel bad if their phone has run out of charging.
How good it would be if your phone charges while you are walking? It keeps you fit as well as eliminates the worry of not having enough charge.
Delhi-based teens, Mohak Bhalla and Anand Gangadharan are childhood friends. They decided to work on a physics project for a science exhibition held in their school.
Initially, they developed a prototype which was later launched by them as the Walkie Mobi Charger.
This device charges your mobile phone with the kinetic energy generated by walking. Interestingly, it charges your phone 20 per cent faster than a normal charger.
The friends’ duo has been working to upgrade their device for four years. They want their product to be introduced in the market in a year or so.
They were inspired by the stories they heard related to electricity generated by footsteps of people in abroad used to power work stations and platforms.
They brainstormed on this concept and succeeded in making a device that uses electricity generated by exercise to charge mobile phones.
But, their journey was not easy. They designed three prototypes initially, after the suggestions from their elders and teachers, they modified and refined their prototype model.
Their first charger was made of scrap material completely which cost them around ₹2,000.
They chose to design a mobile phones charge because youth in the country are hooked to their mobile phones throughout the day.
So, in order to sustain in the market, they want to make a device which is related to mobile phones.
This device helps youth to do exercise outdoors without staying away from their phones.
