Mahatma’s birth anniversary logo launched | Fusion - WeRIndia

Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary is approaching on October 2. It is the 150^th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

In order to mark the day, Indian government has been taking several initiatives. Swachhata Hi Seva cleanliness drive was initiated in the last week on September 15.

Yesterday President of India Ram Nath Kovind launched a logo as well as a web portal which reveals upcoming celebrations.

The portal’s name is gandhi.gov.in. It is primarily participatory in nature and intended for all organizations to upload their activities with respect to the remembrance of the birth anniversary of Gandhiji.

The Ministry of Culture states that the website has a unique feature as well. It is Gandhipedia which will be a good source of Gandhian knowledge and is expected to grow with time.

The new logo that was launched has Mahatma Gandhi’s image with a stick in his hand which resembles number ‘1’ followed by 5 and ‘0’ in the shape of a spinning wheel. In the back ground a ‘charakha’ is visible. The logo reads ‘150 years of celebrating Mahatma’.

As per the Ministry, the logo had been obtained through crowd-sourcing. This logo’s branding will be done by way of trains, roadways buses, Metro, Air India, government websites, government stationery, emails, calendars, diaries, government advertisements and many other possible ways.

Public sector undertakings, subordinate offices, autonomous bodies that are under the government of India will use the logo.

The celebrations will continue for two years from October 2, 2018 to October 2, 2020 throughout the country in order to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji. Both the web portal and the logo will be part of these celebrations in the country as well abroad.

During the launch of logo, Minister of State for Culture and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Mahesh Sharma and Culture Secretary Arun Goel were present at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
