WhatsApp New features for Group Chats
WhatsApp is being used by many people these days for all their messaging needs. In order to make it more user-friendly and improve user satisfaction, some new features have been made for better administrative controls in group chats.
The new features are available for the users of both Android and iPhone. These features provide more control to the group admins over the chats.
The admins of the group can restrict people from changing the icon, description and subject of the group chat with the help of one of the new WhatsApp features.
It is available under ‘Admin Controls’ in Group settings.
Another new feature is ‘Group Description’ which is added to group chats. It appears in the form of a short blurb which is found under group info. With this, users can set the purpose, topics or guidelines for the group.
If any new member joins a group, then the description will be shown up at the top of the chat.
Another feature that has been introduced by WhatsApp is ‘Group catch up’. With this feature, users can view the messages or replies they are mentioned in by just tapping on a new @ button. This button is found at the bottom right corner of the chat.
Now group admins can remove admin permissions of other group participants. Furthermore, the group creators who started the group cannot be removed from that group by other people.
If anyone leaves from a group, it has become harder now for such people to be re-added.
WhatsApp stated that whether it is a group of family members or friends from different places of the world, groups are very important for them. Hence, to ease their chatting experience and become more user-friendly, the new features have been added.
