When can you watch the super blue blood moon?
Today is a total lunar eclipse. It is not a normal lunar eclipse. This is one of rarest lunar eclipses which appears for the first time in more than 150 years.
This is the second lunar eclipse in this month, so it is called a blue moon. The blue moon is combined with super moon where it is at its closest point to the earth.
The moon will appear in blood red colour. Hence it is called a super blood moon. The moon will appear larger and brighter.
Due to this occurrence and colour of moon in the eclipse, the moon is termed as super blue blood moon by many.
The total lunar eclipse is a collision of multiple lunar events. A total lunar eclipse will happen when the earth passes between the sun and moon, and blocks sunlight from reaching the moon.
The lunar eclipse will occur simultaneously with the blue moon. Such thing occurred exactly on December 30, 1982 that is nearly 35 years ago.
Compared to other countries, Indians can see it more clearly. It is expected that the lunar eclipse will last for about an hour.
In India, the lunar eclipse will start at 6:21 p.m. Indian Standard Time on January 31 2018. It will continue till 7:37 p.m. So, you can view it in the given time.
The sunlight indirectly reaches the moon in the total lunar eclipse hence the appearance of super blood moon takes place, says NASA.
The moon may also appear to be blood red or dark brown.
Those who live in the middle of the US can also get a great view of this lunar eclipse. The view can be impressive in Asia and Australia also.
However, those living in the East Coast would not get that much of an impressive view as others.
