Indus OS is an operating system made with smartphones in mind.

This OS is available for several smartphones.

Now it is even paired with several models of brands like Micromax, Celkon, Karbonn, Intex, and Swipe.

Indus was started by three IIT graduates: Rakesh Deshmukh, Akash Dongre and Sudhir B in 2013.

Their aim was to solve the gap of Indian languages in technology.

They saw that many Indians could not use smartphones because of language problems.

Another major issue they saw is that Indians doing business with international community faced language issues too.

Indus was their solution for it. They launched the pilot version of the phone in Gujarat in 2014 to get the response of people.

They successfully sold more than 5,000 handsets. Then they started expanding to other languages and other parts of the country.

The OS has a clean and simple to use interface. The local language display and intuitive UI makes it easy even for first time smartphone users to use it. It has several features in it for fast usage.

Using the OS, people can have default apps in the selected languages. The phone dialing and SMS are also in selected language. It comes with a hybrid keypad which can be used to type in two languages. The phone provides easy translation options between English and a regional language. All the user has to do is swipe on text to translate it automatically.

The OS also has text to speech conversion in regional languages. When typing, there is also auto-correct option in all languages. Another added bonus is that users of the Indus OS can send free messages other users.
