The teacher gives wings to the student’s dreams
Education often transforms lives when teachers move beyond textbooks and inspire students with meaningful experiences.
At Begumpet Government High School in Ramagiri Mandal, one mathematics teacher recently proved this through a unique reward initiative.
Malka Ramakishan Rao, a dedicated mathematics teacher, promised students an unforgettable prize during Republic Day celebrations earlier this year.
He announced that anyone scoring above 550 marks in the SSC examinations would receive an air journey. The idea quickly sparked excitement among students and encouraged them to aim higher.
Months later, the promise became reality. Srimanthula Poornachandar secured 554 marks out of 600 in the SSC examinations.
Consequently, he became the first student to earn the special reward. Ramakishan Rao personally sponsored the entire trip and accompanied the student on a flight from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam.
However, the experience extended beyond the flight itself. The teacher also introduced Poornachandar to popular tourist attractions in Visakhapatnam.
As a result, the journey became both educational and memorable. For a student from a government school, the trip offered exposure to experiences once considered distant dreams.
Ramakishan Rao explained that the initiative aimed to build confidence among government school students.
Moreover, he wanted children to understand that academic success could create new opportunities. Encouraged by the response, he plans to continue the programme every year for students scoring 550 marks and above.
For Poornachandar, the teacher’s announcement became a powerful source of motivation. He said the promise inspired him to work harder and remain focused on his studies.
Additionally, he credited the encouragement from teachers and the school’s special classes for helping him achieve his target score.
The school administration also highlighted the role of modern teaching methods in improving student performance.
The HM of the school also stated that target-based study plans and interactive flat panel technology have strengthened learning outcomes significantly.
Today, the initiative represents far more than a reward programme. Instead, it symbolises hope, ambition, and the belief that determination can help students reach heights they once only imagined.
