Street vendor’s daughter excels in Intermediate exam
Poverty is not a hindrance to achieving excellence. Here is an instance that proved it once again.
Kalyani Kati scored 992 marks out of 1,000 in the Intermediate (Class 12) exam conducted by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education. This Adilbabd girl is the daughter of a street vendor. Her parents sell idlis, and other breakfast food items in various colonies for their livelihood.
She hailed from Bhadrachalam. But her father moved to Kaghaznagar in Adilabad for their livelihood.
Kalyani studied class 10 in a government school and secured a 9.7 GPA out of 10. Due to her poor financial background, a Hyderabad-based voluntary organization sponsored her higher education.
Kalyani scored very well in a written test conducted by the voluntary organization and was shortlisted for the sponsorship.
Kalyani has an elder sister, Bhavana. Her parents are so poor that they can’t even buy a moped to sell their food items. However, they want to provide better education to their children. Hence, they are working hard.
Despite their hardships, her parents inspired her to perform well in academics. As per their wishes, she excelled in her studies. Kalyani’s parents were very happy with the achievement of their daughter. They said that she brought a good recognition to their family with her excellent performance.
Kalyani’s elder sister opted for BiPC while she chose MPC. Her sister could not get coaching for her higher education as she studied in a local college. Hence, she is preparing on her own for the NEET exam to get admission into a medical college.
However, due to sponsorship, Kalyani studied in a popular junior college. She was given coaching for JEE also.
Kalyani aims to become a civil servant to serve society. Before that, she wants to pursue computer science engineering from an IIT.
