Man fights depression by creating his own job
While several people lost their jobs due to COVID-19, many others lost their livelihood. Sanjay Bhatia is one among them. He worked as a chef at a restaurant in Delhi. He was happily leading his life. He was managing his financial tasks easily. His elder daughter got married. His younger children were studying and he could meet his family expenses.
While everything was going fine, COVID-19 changed his fate. He lost his job after the announcement of the lockdown as the restaurant owner decided to close it.
Sanjay sought other jobs to feed his family, but could not succeed. Besides, financial hardships made his condition worse. All these conditions led him to depression.
But, on the suggestions of his mother, wife, and children, he wanted to do something on his own. His family encouraged him to start his own way of livelihood. Since he is good at cooking, they asked him to use his talent. His neighbours also came forward to help him. The landlord also supported him by taking lesser rent from him as he was trying to re-establish himself.
Sanjay launched his own chaat stall in September with an initial investment of ₹30,000. He borrowed it from his acquaintances. He hired a stall for rent of ₹8,000 per month. He started selling various chaat items like Dahi Bhalla, Tawa bread, Bhalla Papdi chaat etc. for ₹60 and vegetarian burgers for ₹40 at his stall.
Slowly, his chaat stall grabbed the attention of customers by publicity from word-of-mouth. Sanjay opens his stall at 11:00 a.m. and works at the stall till 9:30 p.m. His wife also helps him at the stall. Due to taste and quality, many customers are visiting his stall. Now, Sanjay makes from ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 per month. Thus, he fought depression and was happy to choose his way of living.
