The pandemic affected not just the health of many people, but their financial condition as well. Several school teachers lost their jobs as schools remain closed in the country for many months. Some of them are selling vegetables while others are farming in the fields. There are many others also who lost their jobs during the pandemic.

Here is an inspiring story of an actress turned truck driver due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Karthika from Kerala acted in a few films like Makkana, Kenalum Minerum etc.

She likes acting very much. She acted in many plays during her school days. This helped her step into the film industry. Yet, she could not gain popularity.

Karthika is equally passionate about driving as acting. She learned truck driving due to her passion. She also worked as a driver in her village. Now, it helped her in tough times.

She bought a truck obtaining a loan from a bank. She transports fruits and vegetables among districts across the state.

Initially, she experimented with transportation of 1000 kg pineapple to Azhikode in Kannur, her native place, from Vazhakkulam. This trip yielded her good returns. Hence, she decided to transport fruits and vegetables.

She transports pineapple to Kannur and coconuts to Ernakulam. She supplies to many shops in these areas. She also receives order from her friends.

Karthika likes night rides. She wears jeans and a shirt and driver’s uniform on it. She also wears a cap to cover her hair and avoid the attention of people as she is a woman. She does not have any helpers to load the stock. She alone can manage all the work single-handed.

Karthika aims to buy a tipper and ride it with a full load. She said that she would buy it in future after she earns enough money to acquire it. Her husband is working abroad. She has a son, who is in class 8.
