Unlike some other children who face struggles due to their poverty, Arunima faced problems due to her father’s addiction.

She hails from an upper-middle-class family. Her father is a scientist. Her mother is also a well-educated woman.

Her elder brother, a 20-year old is suffering from Autism. Her mother looks after her brother. But, her father is an alcoholic. He constantly pressurizes her mother to leave the burden of the boy.

Despite the family battles, Arunima finished her class X with good marks. She was waiting to join in a college. At that time, her mother was so badly injured by her father that she went into coma.

Her mother was admitted into a hospital where she had undergone several surgeries. She was kept in the ICU.

At that time, Arunima moved out of her home along with her brother. Her maternal grandmother helped her a lot financially.

Arunima looked after her brother like a mother, she joined him in a school where the children of autism were studying. After leaving her brother in the school, she used to go to college.

She finished her XI. In the meantime, her mother recovered and joined in a contract job. Then, Arunima wanted to develop a device to find out micronutrients in the body without a blood sample. Instead of blood sample, hair roots can be tested in her device.
