12-year-old boy wins Bravery Award for guiding ambulance

There are many instances in the past that age is not a criterion for doing great things. Here is an instance of a 12-year-old boy who showed great courage to save people in times of need.

This class-VI boy may seem small but showed extraordinary bravery through which he won the hearts of millions of people as well as an award.

Many areas of the country witnessed devastating floods last year. Karnataka was also reeling under heavy floods.

At that time, a 12-year-old boy risked his life for guiding an ambulance. The video of the boy who ran across a submerged bridge to guide the ambulance went viral.


Venkatesh from Hirerayanakumpi village of Devadurga, Karnataka remained in the headlines of the news for his bravery.

An ambulance was stuck on a flooded bridge. Venkatesh risked his life and ran across the bridge and guided the ambulance.

He was playing with his friends on the banks of Krishna. At that time, he found an ambulance that was stuck on the submerged bridge.

The ambulance was carrying a dead body and there were four people in it. The driver was helpless as he was struggling to find the way.

Venkatesh immediately ran towards the vehicle and asked the driver to follow him as he can show the way to move it out.

Thus, he helped them come out safely. The video went viral and the boy was selected for the National Bravery Awards 2019 for his courage.

Each year, some children who showed their bravery will be honoured on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26.

This year also, 22 children from various parts of the country have been selected for the Indian Council of Child Welfare National Bravery Awards.

Venkatesh is one among them. The awardees will receive a medal, certificate, and cash.

In addition to that, they will also have a chance of getting education sponsorship until graduation from a philanthropic organization.
