Have you ever heard of how good it would be to convert your photos to paintings? This Pune startup makes it true by turning the photos of users to beautiful paintings.

PortraitFlip flips your images to portraits. It was founded by three engineering graduates, Lavdeep Chahal, Sunny Chaudhury and Shubhanshu Maheshwari in 2018.

The idea of converting photos into paintings was born in a dorm room from their personal experience.

When Lavdeep wanted to order handmade paint from a photo of his girlfriend, he found no such website in the county.

They then started building a website with an amount of ₹23,000 and registered in July 2018.

PortraitFlip creates handmade paintings from photographs.

It has partnered with two studios that have more than 100 artists and 30 individual artists.

One content writer, graphic designer and two interns are working with the startup.

In order to get the portrait, the user needs to upload the photo on their website and choose the required size and medium of the painting.

There are different mediums including oil, charcoal, acrylic, pencil, coloured pencil, and watercolour.

Three finishing options like rolled, framed and gallery wrapped are available.

After receiving the order from the customer, PortraitFlip connects with the artists. The team sends the photograph of painting to the customer before the final delivery.

They execute the changes suggested by the customers and seek their approval again. The painting will be delivered to the customer only after the final approval.

Paintings will be delivered within 24 days under free shipping category. If the customers choose express delivery, they will have to pay a fee for that. These paintings will be delivered within 14 days.

The charges for portrait vary from ₹1,900 and ₹30,000 based on the size and medium of the painting.

PortraitFlip served 4,000 customers out of which 75 per cent are from the US.

It recorded a turnover of ₹1.2 crores last year and aims to earn ₹4 crore in this financial year.
