Paperdom’s redefining sustainable stationery in India

Paperdom’s redefining sustainable stationery in India

Since its inception in 2012, Paperdom has emerged as India’s largest manufacturer of banana fibre-based paper and products, proving that innovation, sustainability, and tradition can co-exist.

Unlike conventional paper manufacturing, Paperdom follows a 0% wood, 100% paper approach.

Its production process relies entirely on cellulose-rich agricultural waste, cotton scraps from textile factories, banana fibre from farmers in South Gujarat, and bagasse from sugar mills.

All raw materials are sourced within a 200-km radius of Surat, cutting down the carbon footprint.

The science is simple yet impactful. Each material is processed into pulp using indigenous machinery and traditional artisanal techniques, with no bleach, acid, or harmful chemicals.

This results in premium, chemical-free, biodegradable paper, an eco-conscious alternative to conventional wood-based paper.  As a result, every tonne of Paperdom’s paper produced saves 17 trees.

From the beginning, Paperdom set itself apart not just as a factory, but as a creative lab. With a prototyping unit in place from day one and a focus on continuous experimentation, the company has pioneered speciality papers and premium stationery that include notebooks, journals, productivity planners, and gift hampers.

The company’s ethos finds strong support in a changing consumer landscape. With growing awareness among Gen-Z and eco-conscious buyers, demand has shifted towards authentic, sustainable alternatives over traditional brand names.

Paperdom’s blend of aesthetic appeal, quality, and sustainability has made it a preferred choice not just for individuals, but also for corporates, global brands, and CSR-driven gifting.

Paperdom’s model is highly scalable, with an in-house capacity of 30,000–40,000 units a month, expandable to 100,000.

With D2C, marketplace, and B2B channels already active, international expansion, particularly to the US, is on the horizon.

As it continues to grow, Paperdom is building circular economy models and forging partnerships to deepen its impact.

With every page crafted from waste, Paperdom is writing a new chapter in sustainable manufacturing, one that protects trees, empowers artisans, and sets a benchmark for eco-friendly innovation.
