OYO Rooms, a startup based from Gurgaon is a marketplace for Branded Budget Hotel/BnBs. The startup is funded by Light Speed Venture Partners, Venture Nursery and Peter Thiel (the founder of Paypal).

The startup has started with 3 hotels in December and now they had 16 hotels by the end of June.

OYO has become the largest chain of branded BnBs in Gurgaon and it has 10 perecent of the hotel business in the region.

They have also launched Oravel.com which can be used by consumer to find and book bed and breakfast, and serviced apartments online. The service states that generally people do not tend to return to budget hotel rooms after once experiencing them. This is because most of the budget rooms fail to meet the expectations of customers.

The service tries to deliver standardized experiences which remove these problems for the consumers. The aim of the service is to provide consumers with budget hotel rooms and also leave them satisfied.

The service books around 5000 plus nights in a month which is more than any other Online Travel Company. The service aims to build an end to end customer experience by the year 2015.

It also aims to get 100 thousand rooms under OYO standardization so that they will be 10 times the size of India’s largest hotel chain.
