Several startups emerge to provide innovative solutions for regular issues. Food startups, vehicle servicing startups, laundry service startups etc. are some among the others.

Desi Laundry came into functioning to provide laundry services on-demand. It was founded by brothers duo, Ayush Agarwal and Ashwin Agarwal, along with their friend, Nawal Bansal in 2019.

This Siliguri-based startup provides laundry services to customers across the city.

They started their services as an aggregator. They provided services with the help of local laundry shops in the first four months.


However, customers expressed quality issues despite satisfied with their service. Hence, the founders decided to offer laundry and cleaning services on their own.

Then, Desi Laundry began its cleaning services. The founders invested ₹10 lakhs for establishment.

Desi Laundry offers various services including ironing, dry cleaning, cleaning of wedding suits and gowns, rugs, curtains, comforters and bedding materials.

Users can book their service on the website, WhatsApp or phone to schedule a time for pickup.

Desi Laundry team finishes everything from pickup to delivery after cleaning within 48 hours.

Currently, the startup has 10 employees. They want to increase employment opportunities to more women by improving their customer base.

Desi Laundry offers various payment methods like net banking, card payment, Paytm, e-wallet and Cash on Delivery.

They have two types of washing methods on which the price depends. Normal wash and iron method which is suitable for casuals and non-white clothing. It is priced at ₹67 per kg. Another is the premium laundry method which is available for ₹127 per kg. It is suitable for office wear and delicate clothes.

Desi Laundry offers both B2B and B2C services. It has approximately 300 customers. Out of them, 20 are B2B customers; remaining are B2C customers. The startup used to receive nearly 70 orders per day before the outbreak of COVID-19. But, now the demand has reduced to 30.
