Tendulkar silver coins made by a jewelry company
Valuemart Gold & Jewels, in association with Diamond India, have launched a new lot of silver coins. The speciality of these coins is that they have the cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar‘s face embossed on them alongside the number of Tests (200) he had played.
The coins which were each minted were in 200-gram silver. A lot of coins consisted over 15,900 coins.
The number was equal to the number of runs that the batting legend had scored in Tests throughout his spectacular 24-year international career which lasted between 1989 and 2013. The coins were released in the presence of Tendulkar.
Tendulkar was asked the question whether he collected coins. He replied that apart from the ones that his coach Ramakant Achrekar used to put on top of stumps, he did initially collect coins and stamps in the past.
He stated that as a child he had the hobby of collecting coins and stamps. However, he added that in later stages of life, he was much more interested in getting more runs than coins. He said that they gave meaning and direction to life.
After he started playing, he said that he has a bit of coin collection hobby with his childhood friends. However, they were completely different coins.
