Installation cost of EV charger is just ₹2,500 in Delhi
Petrol prices are skyrocketing in the country. To encourage people towards electric vehicles, the Delhi government announced a subsidy for installing electric vehicle (EV) chargers.
Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai said that the Delhi government wants to reduce the cost of EV chargers, hence this move has been taken. Delhiites can use this opportunity and install EV chargers for just spending ₹2,500. The government provides a subsidy of ₹6,000. However, it is available to the first 30,000 applicants.
Besides, the government also launched a single-window facility to install private charging stations in malls, offices, colleges etc. Applicants can visit the respective discom portal or call the helpline number for this.
The authorities said that the single window facility for the installation of private chargers is the first time in the country. The process will be completed within seven working days after applying.
People can either opt for a new electrical connection (including pre-paid meter) so that they can benefit from the reduced tariff or can continue with the connection they already had.
The government fixed tariff as ₹4.5 per unit for the electricity consumed through these charging points.
To install EV charging stations, the space requirements are as follows: While one square foot is sufficient for LEV AC, AC 001 needs 2 square feet. Both these chargers are wall-mounted and can be used for two and three-wheelers.
The DC-001 can be installed on the ground. It requires a two square metre area and two metres height. It is used for e-cars.
The transport department says that the Delhi government will be the first to launch LEV AC chargers as per the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) 2021.
People can visit the government portal to compare the prices of these chargers and order them. They can also check the reliable EV chargers before buying them.
