IndiGo accidentally leaves bags of passengers
Losing or missing baggage is one of the most common issues faced by airline travellers. Recently, IndiGo Airlines accidentally left the baggage of 37 passengers at the origin of the flight.
The IndiGo flight forgot to carry the luggage of passengers and left for Visakhapatnam from Hyderabad. When passengers came for collecting their bags, they came to know that their luggage was missing. It caused a lot of inconvenience to passengers.
It was caused due to a human error. However, the ground staff were not aware of the problem until the passengers alerted them at the destination.
Passengers waited for more than an hour for their luggage. After that, the airline confirmed the missing of their luggage and assured them deliver their bags to their doorsteps.
IndiGo made special arrangements to get back the missed luggage safely. It released a statement in this regard and expressed its regret.
However, missing baggage for air travellers is not uncommon. A survey conducted by LocalCircles revealed that one in four fliers are complaining about losing or missing their luggage. These incidents have been rising in the last three years.
Around 11,000 participated in the survey. Out of them, 14% said that they experienced a problem with the on-time delivery of baggage. It was either due to delay in getting back their luggage or losing their baggage.
One in three fliers had this experience. 11% of participants said that they had faced anxiety-filled experiences about their luggage at least twice. They had this stressful experience multiple times.
Around two-thirds of respondents expressed their dissatisfaction with the customer service and responsiveness of airlines. 38% rated it as poor. Only 12% rated the remedial action of airlines as excellent, while 25% rated it as good. This issue is not only reported in India but also in many other countries.
