Fuel supply holds firm despite global disruptions
As global energy routes face uncertainty, India is maintaining stability in its domestic fuel supply chain.
The government confirmed that over 53.5 lakh LPG cylinders were delivered in a single day, reflecting strong operational capacity.
Amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, concerns over fuel availability have grown. Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have affected global shipments for nearly 50 days.
However, India’s Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry has moved quickly to reassure citizens. It emphasised that LPG deliveries continue smoothly and match consumer bookings.
Moreover, authorities urged people to avoid panic buying of petrol, diesel, and LPG. They stressed that sufficient supply is being ensured nationwide.
This steady flow is supported by refineries operating at high capacity levels. At the same time, fuel stations across the country remain fully functional.
In addition, the government highlighted a significant shift toward cleaner energy. Over 39,000 households voluntarily surrendered LPG connections in favour of piped natural gas.
This transition reflects growing consumer confidence in alternative fuel systems. Consequently, it also reduces pressure on LPG distribution networks.
On the logistics front, maritime movement remains active despite regional tensions. An Indian-flagged crude oil tanker safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz on April 18.
It is expected to reach Mumbai by April 22, further strengthening supply lines.
Meanwhile, enforcement agencies have intensified action against illegal practices.
More than 2,400 raids were conducted nationwide to prevent hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders.
These efforts aim to maintain fair distribution and prevent artificial shortages.
The government is closely monitoring the evolving situation and maintaining strict oversight of fuel supply chains. It has been reiterated that LPG, PNG, and CNG supplies remain fully secure nationwide.
Despite ongoing global uncertainties, India’s fuel distribution network continues to function efficiently, ensuring uninterrupted availability and quick response to any emerging challenges.
