Delhi government to provide financial aid to flood-affected
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that the government will provide financial aid of ₹10,000 to each family affected by the recent floods.
Kejriwal took to Twitter to express his concern for the poor families living along the banks of the Yamuna River, many of whom have lost their homes and belongings due to the floods.
In addition to the financial assistance, the government will establish special camps to help those who have lost their Aadhaar cards and other important documents. The camps will also provide books and clothes for affected children.
During a visit to a relief camp in Mori Gate, North Delhi, Kejriwal assured the residents that efforts were underway to control the flood situation.
Pumps have been deployed to reduce the water level in affected areas, and relief camps have been set up in various locations, including schools and dharmashalas, to provide necessary amenities such as toilets and clean water.
Kejriwal acknowledged the challenges faced by the people of Yamuna Bazaar, where the floodwaters caused significant damage.
The CM pledged to organize special camps to help individuals obtain essential documents like Aadhaar cards.
He also expressed concern for the children who lost their books and school uniforms, assuring the affected families that replacements would be provided as soon as possible.
To expedite the drying process in the muddy areas, Kejriwal mentioned plans to fill them with dry soil.
He emphasized that the government is exploring various means to provide ad hoc relief and compensation to those affected by the floods, with specific details to be announced soon.
Following his visit, Kejriwal took to Twitter again to inform the public about the Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant, which has been restarted. This will restore water supply to various assembly constituencies and NDMC areas.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has taken proactive steps to assist the flood-affected families in Delhi.
By providing financial aid, setting up special camps, and addressing the challenges faced by the residents, the government aims to alleviate their immediate needs and support their recovery process.
Kejriwal emphasizes the importance of unity among political parties during this critical time and reaffirms the government’s commitment to assisting those affected by the floods.
