Baahubali sets a benchmark
The Indian movie industry has a great level of creative quality and has a sheer amount of its productions. However, it is said that it is lagging behind world cinema in technical skill. While it is still too early to decide if the Telugu blockbuster Baahubali —The beginning, can eventually result in an industry-wide improvement. However, one thing is for sure that by expert opinion, that the film has definitely raised the bar for Indian industry.
The movie was released at the same time in Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. The film has got the collection of approximately Rs.60 to Rs.70 crore on simply the first day of its release. This made it the largest opener of this year in any Indian language.
Another benchmark it has set is that it is also the highest south Indian opener of all time as well. It has even broken box office records for Indian films overseas, as well as in the U.S.A. The movie had a budget of Rs.250 crore (which includes the second part of the franchise, Baahubali — The Conclusion, that will be released the next year). With such a budget, Baahubali is reportedly the most expensive film to have ever been created in this country. Most of the budget was used for computer-generated imagery and special effects that were important for the film’s epic canvas.
