WhatsApp adds a call link feature
The need for online meetings has increased after the pandemic. Many businesses and employers are using Zoom or Google Meet for video or audio calls.
Now, Meta-owned WhatsApp has added a call link feature for its users to join audio and video calls. The new feature is available for both Android and iOS users.
The feature is visible on the latest WhatsApp version, i.e. 2.22.21.83. You can check whether the feature is displayed on your WhatsApp or not. If you do not see the feature at the top of the Call section, then update WhatsApp from the app store.
The call link feature enables users to create and share a link to an audio or video call with their contacts. That means users can connect with their contacts directly once they open the link.
They can share the call link either with an individual or members of a group. They can even share the link on other platforms.
Users can save the created link to reuse it. If users forget the link they have created, they can create another link. The link will expire if it is not used for 90 days. If users want to prevent some people from joining the link, they can simply block them.
WhatsApp audio call and video call support 32 participants. So, if you create a call link and share it with your contacts, you can connect with 32 people at a time.
Procedure to create a call link:
- Open WhatsApp and tap on the Calls section. You will find the ‘Create call link’ option there. Open it to create a call link.
- The default option is to create a link for a video call. You can change the option to a voice call.
- You will see different options, like Send link via WhatsApp, Copy link, and Share link.
- Choose the option Send link via WhatsApp to share with your contacts on WhatsApp. Click on Copy link to copy the link.
- If you want to share it on other apps, click the Share link option.
