Many electric vehicle manufacturers rely on third parties for their batteries. However, PURE EV, a Hyderabad based startup is designing and manufacturing both its vehicles and batteries.

PURE EV is an IIT-Hyderabad incubated startup. Students and faculty have worked together to bring an amazing product into the market.

The startup launched its high-speed electric scooter EPluto 7G. Its range is 116km on a single charge. The vehicle’s ex-showroom price is ₹79,999. It can attain a top speed of 60 kmph and reach 0-40 kmph in less than 5 seconds.

It consumes 2.5 units of electricity, which means the refueling cost is at ₹15-17 per charge.

The battery, as well as the vehicle, have been designed to endure Indian terrain and weather conditions.

The batteries are easy to charge. They are portable and swappable. Unlike many batteries available in the market, they don’t require 25 AMP charging socket. Just 10 Amp or 15 Amp household socket is enough to charge the batteries.

PURE EV has a manufacturing capacity of 2,000 units per month. It wants to improve its capacity to manufacture more units and aims to bring around 10,000 vehicles on the road by the end of this year.

It has 50 outlets across the country and aims to expand to over 200 outlets in the current calendar year.

Electric vehicles are growing significantly in the country. Hence, the startup also wants to capture a remarkable share in the market.

The startup has been trying to develop a genuine product for the country by merging academia and entrepreneurship.

The startup has established a 40,000-sqft state-of-the-art facility which is co-located with IIT-Hyderabad for research and development.

This also helps its large scale production of vehicles as well as batteries. As the country is witnessing the transition from petrol to EVs in the two-wheeler mobility segment, the company wants to be a pioneer in it.
