Plugzmart strengthens India’s EV infrastructure | Fusion - WeRIndia

Plugzmart is a start-up incubated at IIT Madras. It recently achieved certification for its EV charger from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).

It is a significant development for India’s indigenous electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.

This certification was granted for Plugzmart’s 60kW DC Fast Charger and its proprietary controller card.

It confirms that the company’s products meet India’s operational safety standards and efficiency norms.

Vivek Samynathan is the founder and CEO of Plugzmart.

He expressed pride in this milestone, stating, that it is a significant achievement for them. This is because it strengthens their position as a leader in the EV charging industry.

He emphasized that the validation shows their commitment to quality as well as safety.

Samynathan also hinted at more innovative products in the pipeline, with a focus on strengthening Plugzmart’s market presence.  These products are set to launch this financial year.

The company’s broader mission is to provide end-to-end solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of the EV sector, while also driving future innovations in sustainable energy.

Currently, Plugzmart is concentrating on developing high-speed DC chargers with their own controller and Programmable Logic Controller modules.

Looking ahead, the company plans to offer a comprehensive range of products in the EV charging space, with a strong emphasis on integrated software solutions to enhance user experience and efficiency.

India’s EV charging technology landscape has so far relied heavily on imports from China, making the development of indigenous technologies critical.

By supporting domestic innovation, companies like Plugzmart are playing a key role in reducing dependency on imports and promoting local manufacturing.

These companies aim to be in line with the government’s phased manufacturing program for the EV sector.

This achievement of Plugzmart represents a major step forward in India’s push for self-reliance in EV technology and infrastructure.
