West Bengal couple to host their wedding on Google Meet
Due to increasing COVID-19 cases, many states and UTs imposed restrictions on social and public gatherings, including weddings.
In this scenario, a couple from West Bengal decided to invite around 450 guests for their wedding without flouting COVID-19 rules imposed by the government. All these guests will receive food through Zomato.
Sandipan Sarkar and Aditi Das planned to get married last year, but the pandemic affected their wedding. They postponed their wedding to this January, expecting the pandemic will be subsided. However, again due to the third wave of COVID-19, various state governments imposed restrictions.
Hence, the couple decided to host their wedding on Google Meet so that the maximum number of guests can view the ceremony on the platform. They invited 450 guests to attend the wedding virtually. Dinner will be followed through Zomato.
Sandipan tested COVID-positive earlier this month. He was hospitalized due to complications for four days. At that time, he worried about the safety of his family members as well as guests. So he decided to host a digital wedding to avoid gathering.
Sandipan says that while a physical wedding enables only a few guests to attend the wedding, the virtual event allows over 300 guests to join the event. A link with the password will be shared with all the guests one day before the event to watch the wedding ceremony.
After the wedding, food will be delivered to the guests via Zomato. Zomato is very happy to be part of this new initiative. They are eagerly waiting for the occasion to fulfil the order successfully. A team is going to monitor the deliveries of this wedding ceremony.
Several other couples are also exploring innovative ways for their wedding. One couple from Tamil Nadu decided to host their wedding reception in Metaverse in February.
