Khecheopalri Lake in Sikkim fulfils wishes

India is a land of many wonderful and sacred places. There are many beautiful lakes in the county. But, this lake is different. It is believed as a wish-fulfilling lake.

Khecheopalri Lake in West Sikkim is one of the sacred lakes in the country. Many Hindus and Buddhists consider it a wish-fulfilling lake. If anyone wishes in front of this sacred lake, their wishes will be fulfilled.

As per Hindu folklore, Lord Shiva meditated near the lake for many years, due to which the lake became holy. The lake appears clean. As soon as the leaves fall in the lake, birds will clean them.

The ideal time to visit this lake is between October and May. However, summer is the best time to visit the place. Due to heavy rainfall, tourists avoid visiting the place during the monsoons. Visitors need to pay a nominal entry fee of ₹20 to enter the lake campus.

The lake is considered holy by the locals. Hence, visitors should not put their feet or get in the lake. They can stand in front of the lake and make a wish to be fulfilled. Since the lake is isolated, beware of leeches as they can stick on your feet and legs. So cover yourself completely while visiting the lake.

The lake has several colourful and beautiful fishes. Visitors can feed the fish with some food or biscuits, which is also considered a sacred thing.

The lake is surrounded by a village with the same name, i.e. Khecheopalri village. It is a small village, but the villagers provide good hospitality to visitors. People from across the globe visit the place and stay there for a few days to learn the teachings of Buddha and spend some time in mediation.
