India can become a major tourist destination: PM | Fusion - WeRIndia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India can become a major tourist destination by 2022 in the world with the support of countrymen.

PM Modi stated that India’s rank on the Travel and Tourism Competitive Index has upsurged to 34 from 65 and the country has a great potential in tourism in the coming years.

September 27 was celebrated as World Tourism Day. in this context, some popular tourism agencies released a report on the Travel and Tourism Competitive Index. It revealed that India’s rank has improved a lot.

The PM in his Mann Ki Baat program on Monday said that as per the report, India has a great potential in tourism.

Five years ago, India’s rank was 65, but now the rank is 34 and it is a great boost to the country.

He expressed his happiness in the improvement of the rank and if people of the country support, it will further improve and gain more popularity globally.

He hoped it would grow further by 2022 where India will celebrate its 75th year of Independence.

He added that if proper efforts have been made towards improving tourism, India would be in the major tourist destinations of the world.

Modi in his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort appealed to the citizens to travel to at least 15 places across the country by 2022.

In his Mann Ki Baat, he reiterated his appeal to the people. He said this would help people understand the diversity of the country.

He also appealed to the people that while visiting the places across the country, try to stay there for one or two nights to understand the place better. It would help improve the experience and one can understand that India has a vast diversity.
