Bhu Varahaswamy Temple: Fulfilling dream of own house

Many aspire to build their own homes, but for some, this dream remains elusive despite their financial resources.

However, in the quaint town of Mandya, Karnataka, lies a unique temple that offers hope and solace to those seeking to fulfil their dream of homeownership.

The Bhu Varahaswamy Temple, situated on the banks of the Hemavathi River in Kallahalli, is a place of unwavering faith and spiritual significance.

What sets this temple apart is the presence of the Bhu Varaha idol, where Goddess Bhu is seated on the leg of Lord Varaha.

This awe-inspiring idol, standing at an impressive 14 feet and carved from black Saligrama rock, holds deep mythological importance.

Legend has it that Lord Vishnu, in the form of Varaha, calmed his anger here after defeating Hiranyaksha.

Maharshi Gautama is said to have installed the Varaha idol within the Saligrama rock, which was later buried beneath the earth over time.

In the 13th century, the Hoysala ruler Balla III stumbled upon this sacred place while lost in the forest during a hunt.

Witnessing a hunting dog chasing a rabbit, he sensed a divine presence and diligently searched the area, uncovering the buried idol.

Filled with reverence, King Balla III not only worshipped the deity but also erected a temple in his honour.

Devotees firmly believe that sincere worship of Bhu Varaha Swami can swiftly resolve land-related disputes.

Moreover, it is believed that by worshipping sand and bricks from this temple, one can ensure the auspicious completion of house construction, bringing happiness and peace to its future occupants.

This explains why many devotees pay homage to the humble brick.

Recently, this dilapidated temple underwent a much-needed renovation due to a dream that led a Mumbai-based businessman to Kallahalli.

In his dream, the deity himself implored the businessman to restore the temple to its former glory.

Intrigued, the businessman followed his dream’s calling, and upon seeing the Bhu Varaha Swami Murthy, he understood the divine purpose.

With devotion and determination, the temple has been revitalized, continuing to offer solace, hope, and blessings to all who seek them.

The Bhu Varahaswamy Temple is more than just a place of worship; it is a testament to unwavering faith, ancient legends, and the power of dreams to shape our destinies.
