Things to become expensive from today

COVID-19 affected many businesses. In this context, many companies decided to increase the price of their products from the new financial year, i.e. today.

The following products will become costlier from April 1:

  • The cars of Maruti and Nissan will become expensive as they announced a price hike. However, the exact price hike has not known. The raw materials of automobiles have been increasing for the past few years. Automobile companies are bearing the burden and waiting for a good time to increase the price. Now some companies decided to increase the prices from this financial year.
  • Similarly, the cost of raw materials for ACs and refrigerators also has been increased. As a result, companies making ACs and refrigerators decided to increase their prices. AC companies decided to increase the price by 4 to 6 per cent, which means the cost per AC unit may increase in the range of ₹1,500 – ₹2,000. Companies that make refrigerators did not disclose how much price would they like to increase for their products.
  • TV units will also become costlier. Their prices have been increasing by ₹3,000 – ₹4,000 for the last eight months. Now TV companies decided to increase their price further by ₹2,000 – ₹3,000.

Apart from that, some other things will also become expensive from today. These include the following:

  • The government decided to increase the minimum fare for domestic flights by 5 per cent. Besides, the Civil Aviation Ministry decided to increase the Aviation Security Fee (ASF (Aviation Security Fees) from ₹160 to ₹200 for domestic passengers. For international passengers, the price will increase from $5.2 to $12.
  • Milk prices may also rise due to the price hike announced by dairy farmers by ₹3. It affects all dairy products.
  • Travelling on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway will also become expensive due to the decision of the UP government to increase the rate. The approved rates are between ₹5 and ₹25.
  • The Power Distribution Companies in Bihar want to increase the electricity rate by 9 to 10 per cent. If their proposal is approved, Bihar residents will have to bear this burden.
