Security heightened in Delhi and Mumbai following blasts in Kerala

In the wake of the shocking serial blasts that occurred during a prayer meeting of Jehovah’s Witnesses at a convention centre in Kerala’s Kalamassery, security measures have been significantly reinforced in the national capital and Mumbai.

The tragic incident claimed the life of one person and left 36 others injured, casting a shadow of concern over safety and public gatherings.

The Delhi Police wasted no time in taking swift and decisive action, intensifying security in densely populated areas of the city in response to the unsettling events in Kerala.

They are closely coordinating with intelligence agencies, treating any information or leads with the utmost seriousness. Also, they are taking measures to secure crowded places.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police has issued a high alert. It came in light of the approaching festive season, upcoming cricket matches, and the recent blasts in Kerala.

Notably, security around Chabad House, a Jewish centre in Mumbai, has already been bolstered due to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

The devastating attack in Kerala unfolded during a prayer meeting held at the Kalamassery convention centre, attended by nearly 2,000 people.

The series of explosions occurred shortly after the meeting commenced, leaving one individual dead and dozens injured.

This gathering marked the final day of a three-day prayer event that commenced on October 27.

According to Kerala Police, the attackers used an improvised explosive device in the assault, raising serious concerns about the nature and origins of the explosive material.

In response to the incident, a special investigation team (SIT) will be formed to conduct a thorough inquiry into the case.

Home Minister Amit Shah wasted no time in taking action, speaking with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the phone following the series of explosions.

He directed the heads of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG), to deploy their specialized teams to the scene to initiate a comprehensive investigation.

The tragedy in Kerala serves as a stark reminder of the ever-present threat to public safety and the need for robust security measures, especially in the current global context marked by various security challenges.

The heightened security measures in Delhi and Mumbai are a proactive response to ensure the safety of the public and prevent any potential incidents in the future.
