Now Delhiites can reach Chandigarh within three hours by Vande Bharat Express train. Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday launched the Vande Bharat train in Himachal Pradesh. The train will start from Una.

The Delhi-Chandigarh-Una Vande Bharat express train is the fourth such train in India. It is the most advanced version of all these trains. The train is lighter than the earlier trains. Besides, it can reach a higher speed in a shorter duration. That is, it can accelerate to 100 km per hour in 52 seconds.

The train consists of 16 coaches. It has five halts, including Ambala, Chandigarh, Anandpur Sahib, and Una. It runs six days a week, i.e. except on Wednesdays, it runs all days a week.

So far, Shatabdi Express is the fastest train from Delhi to Chandigarh, with a journey time of three and a half hours. But now, the Vande Bharat Express has replaced it by becoming the fastest train between these routes.

Railways state that Vande Bharat trains have many features for a safe and comfortable journey. It aims to launch more of these trains in the country. It set a target to manufacture as many as 75 Vande Bharat trains by the end of the third quarter of 2023.

The Vande Bharat trains have advanced features like reclining seats, CCTV cameras, automatic fire sensors etc. In addition, a WiFi facility with on-demand content is also provided for passengers. They can also get a battery backup for three hours and a GPS facility.

PM Modi launched the third Vande Bharat express train from Gandhinagar to Mumbai last month in Gujarat. The other two Vande Bharat trains are New Delhi – Varanasi train and the New Delhi – Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra train.

Apart from flagging off Vande Bharat express train, PM also laid the foundation stones for various projects in Himachal Pradesh.
