PM Modi, Amit Shah know final list for cabinet reshuffle

In order to finalize the list of new ministers to be added in the council of ministers, both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah took almost two months. According to sources, these two months saw many long meetings between the two.

Regarding the possible names, there have been many rumors and speculation amongst officials. However, it has been confirmed by everyone that even the names which are being considered were known only to the PM and the BJP president.

In fact, even party leaders as well as Union Ministers asked journalists whether they had any news on the anticipated cabinet reshuffle.

Both the leaders have taken two things into consideration as they are ready to announce the cabinet reshuffle. The first is the Assembly elections coming up next year and the performance of the government in the first half of its five-year term.

PM Modi held a five hour meeting with his council of ministers to review the performance of each department. A status report on each department has been taken to see how the money allocated in the last budgets was spent.

Modi urged for faster project implementation and said he was not completely happy with some of the ministries.

According to sources, the PM gave a clear message. He said that he wanted more enthusiasm and action in the performance of the government. It is an indication that he would probably induct well performing young MPs into his council of ministers.

According to the expectation of some party sources the possible candidates could consist of four from Uttar Pradesh whose performance in the Lok Sabha has been impressive. Apna Dal’s Anupriya Patel has been speculated by many.

Other speculated names from the state are Krishna Raj (Shajahanpur), Mahendranath Pandey (Chandauli) and Raghav Rakhanpal (Saharanpur). Many sources suggest that Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan might be given a promotion as minister with independent charge with Uttar Pradesh elections coming up.
