Panch and Sarpanch in Jammu & Kashmir to get insurance cover | Fusion - WeRIndia

Despite the efforts and security measures of the government, people in Kashmir Valley are vulnerable to terror attacks.

In this context, the central government is mulling to give an insurance cover of ₹4 lakh each to more than Panch and Sarpanch in Jammu and Kashmir.

The decision of providing an insurance cover to Panch and Sarpanch came after their delegation from Jammu and Kashmir met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and requested him for the insurance cover in the wake of growing terror threats.

As per the officials, they requested the minister for an insurance cover of ₹2 lakh each, but the government is planning to give them double the amount, i.e. ₹4 lakh.

The Union Home Ministry is also planning to educate the leaders on the facilities and provisions available in Jammu and Kashmir.

After the revocation of Article 370, special status to the Valley was abrogated and the Constitution and other laws become applicable in Jammu and Kashmir like all other places in the country.

Yet, several leaders are not aware of the present central laws existing in the country.

In this regard, the government wants to educate the leaders of the lowest level of the elected bodies. This will be helpful for the panchayats.

Over 40,000 Panch and Sarpanch were elected in the panchayat elections held in Jammu and Kashmir last year.

Some sources stated that the central government has released funds to carry out development projects in the panchayats.

Earlier, the BJP government used to say that ‘Kashmir is ours’. Now, they aim to create a new paradise in Kashmir.

PM Modi in an election campaign called for creating a new paradise in the Valley. He said that the government would take necessary steps to reduce problems in the Valley as Kashmiris want development and new jobs.

He added that the country is walking towards fulfilling their dreams.
