Odisha to set up India’s largest COVID-19 hospital | Fusion - WeRIndia

Odisha government yesterday said that it will set up a hospital to treat COVID-19. The hospital will be the country’s largest with 1,000 beds exclusively dedicated for the disease.

The number of coronavirus cases is 719 and 16 people died due to this.

The hospital would be functional within fifteen days. Odisha government has entered a tripartite agreement to set up the hospital. The agreement has been signed between the Odisha government and Corporates, and Medical Colleges.

Odisha is the first state to set up such a huge hospital for COVID-19 patients. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced four months salary in advance for doctors and other healthcare workers to improve their morale in the treatment of COVID-19 patients in Odisha.

He said that they would receive the salaries of four months, i.e. from April to July, in the month of April.

He appreciated the selfless services of the doctors and other health personnel and saluted them.

He urged people to treat them with respect and affection as they are working hard for others and providing selfless service.

As the number of coronavirus cases is rising in the country and state, the Family and Welfare department decided to appoint more doctors and nurses on a contractual basis in various hospitals across the state. Even the services of retired people will also be considered.

The state government decided that eateries and garages near the state and national highways would remain open while maintaining social distance during the lockdown.

An official said that the move helps provide a continuous supply of essential goods and keep the supply chain intact.

Meanwhile, around 37 cases have been booked against violators of lockdown in the state. Five cases have been booked against those who violated home quarantine rules.
