Mysuru tops Swachh Bharat rankings
Mysuru topped among 476 cities in Swachh Bharat rankings all over the country. Damoh from Madhya Pradesh occupied the bottom position.
These rankings are based on the amount of open defecation and solid waste management practices, as per a government release. Mysuru leads all the places with its wide-ranging implementation of solid waste management practices and reduction in open defecation.
Another three places from Karnataka stood in the top 10 of the list. Bengaluru stood in the 7th place and leads the list of capitals whereas the bottom place in the list is occupied by Patna with 429th place.
The top 10 places occupied in the list are: Mysuru, Thiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu, Navi Mumbai, Kochi in Kerala, Hassan, Mandya and Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Halisahar from West Bengal, and Gangtok in Sikkim.
Delhi Cantonment was positioned 15th in the list and New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) is in the 16th place. Yet, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi occupied 398th place.
West Bengal was positioned in the top 100 with 25 cities and towns in the state performing well. Southern states lead the list with 39 cities in the top 100, followed by 27 from East, 15 cities or towns from West and 12 places from North. The remaining seven are from the North-Eastern states.
Out of 27 capital cities, only 15 were in top 100. Five capital cities crossed 300.
