Key MoUs of Modi and Trump
US President Donald Trump along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inked three key MoUs during his two-day visit to India.
They both held bilateral talks at the Hyderabad House on Tuesday and discussed various issues including Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
$3 billion defence deal was finalized in the historic meeting of both the leaders.
After the meeting, PM Modi invited Trump to visit India again. Trump said that he and his wife have been astonished by the hospitality shown by Indians.
Later, both issued a joint statement after their meeting to the media.
Here are the highlights of the joint statement of Modi and Trump:
- US President Trump expressed that relations between India and the US have never been as strong as they are now. That’s why they have made a wonderful deal.
- Both the leaders said that they have decided to take the relationship between the countries to a global partnership level.
- To expand defence cooperation and help India buy more than $3 billion of advanced American military equipment, a defence deal has been signed by them. The advanced equipment includes Apache & MH-60 Romeo Helicopters. The leaders hoped it would improve joint defence capabilities.
- PM Modi said that both the countries decided to jointly fight against those who support terrorism. Trump said that both of them agreed to unite to fight against radical Islamic terrorism and protect citizens. They are determined to eradicate terror operations on the land of Pakistan.
- Trump said that both discussed the importance of 5G technology which is essential for the future.
- Both the counties signed 3 MoUs. Among them, one is related to the energy sector. They asserted how the ties between India and the US have gained strength. There are many aspects of the Indo-US ties, however, the defence ties are one of the most important in them.
