ISRO traces missing Lander Vikram

A day after their losing contact with lander Vikram, the scientists of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Sunday said that the exact location of the lander has been traced.

Earlier on Saturday first hours of the morning, lander Vikram lost its contact with the ground station in the last moments of soft landing on the lunar surface.

The entire country including the PM supported the ISRO scientists saying to hope for the best after the incident. They praised the efforts of ISRO.

In this context, yesterday ISRO chief K Sivan spoke to a leading channel and revealed that the orbiter has traced the missing lander, however, communication has not been established with it.

If the scientists can restore the communication with the lander, or if they analyze the data to solve the problem, the mission can move forward.

Meanwhile, the United States congratulated the scientists of ISRO for their incredible efforts on Chandrayaan-2.

It called the mission a huge step forward for India to provide valuable data for future scientific developments.

Alice G Wells, Acting Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia tweeted on India’s Chandayaan-2. He also said that India would achieve its space goals without any doubt.

NASA also lauded the efforts of ISRO on Twitter saying that India has inspired with its journey by attempting to land on the South Pole of the Moon. They are looking forward to exploring the solar system together.

Chandrayaan-2, the prestigious lunar mission was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on July 22 and the liquid engine was successfully fired on August 20.

The later steps including separation of the lander from the orbiter and rough breaking phase were also successful. But, in the last moment, the lander lost its communication and the mission was not completed as expected.
