India ensures the safe return of deported citizens from the US
A group of Indians deported from the US has arrived safely in Panama.
The Indian Embassy in Panama, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua is working closely with local authorities to ensure their well-being.
Officials have secured consular access and are monitoring their condition.
The embassy shared this update on X (formerly Twitter) but did not disclose the exact number of Indians involved.
According to sources, a verification process is required before they can be sent back to India.
This procedure usually takes time, as authorities confirm identities and travel documents.
These individuals are part of 299 migrants deported by the US government to Panama.
Last week, three flights carrying deportees landed in the country after Panama’s President agreed to temporarily accommodate them as part of an immigration agreement.
The US has intensified deportation efforts, targeting those who crossed the border illegally.
The Indian Embassy in Panama confirmed that the deported citizens are staying in a hotel with essential facilities.
Authorities assured them that they were safe and receiving necessary support while arrangements for their return were underway.
The embassy emphasized its commitment to protecting the rights of Indian nationals.
Officials are ensuring that deported individuals are treated fairly and provided with assistance. They continue to coordinate with Panamanian authorities for a smooth repatriation process.
This is not the first large-scale deportation of Indians from the US. Previously, 332 Indians were sent back in three separate batches. The latest group is part of the US administration’s broader crackdown on illegal immigration.
India has been actively engaged in addressing immigration-related issues, particularly cases involving its citizens.
The government continues to work with various countries to provide legal assistance and ensure the safe return of those affected by deportation policies.
As the process unfolds, Indian authorities remain vigilant, prioritizing the safety and dignity of their nationals.
With ongoing diplomatic efforts, the focus remains on securing a smooth transition for the deported individuals back to their homeland.
