Features of new Parliament Building | Fusion - WeRIndia

India will have a new Parliament building as the construction will begin this week.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to lay the foundation stone for the new Parliament building on December 10. He will perform Bhumi Pujan on the same day. People can watch the ceremony either physically or virtually.

The new building will have modern amenities. To encourage indigenous artisans as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Indian architects and artisans will help in the construction.

Here is a list of the features of the new Parliament building:

• The new Parliament building will be constructed at ₹971 crores on an area of 64,500 sqm, which is 17,000 sqm bigger than the previous building. It will be earthquake-resistant.
• The new building will have a seating capacity for more number of members. It will accommodate 888 members in the Lok Sabha and 384 members in Rajya Sabha. The current building has 543 members in the Lok Sabha and 245 members Rajya Sabha.
• HCP Designs prepares the master plan of this project. The building will have four floors. The President, Prime Minister, Lok Sabha Speaker, and Rajya Sabha chairperson will have separate access. At the same, the MPs (Members of Parliament) and the public will also have separate access.
• It will have some extra facilities. For instance, a Constitution hall will be built to present the original Constitution of India.
• To promote digital correspondence, it will have digital interfaces.
• The new building will have many modern facilities.
• The construction of the new building will be finished in two years. The government aims to celebrate 75th Indian Independence Day in this building.

The old Parliament building will be preserved as a heritage building. A committee will be established for this.
