Now Delhiites have to be extra cautious while driving vehicles in the national capital. This is due to the speed limits set by the central government for vehicles. The violators will be punished.

From now onwards, people in Delhi cannot go faster than the prescribed speed limits as new rules came into force. The Centre fixed the speed limit for all vehicles and issued a notification on this matter. The order came into force with immediate effect.

Here are the new speed limits for different types of vehicles:

• The maximum speed limit for a car on most roads in the national capital is 60-70km/hr. The speed limit is 40km/hr for buses, tempo, and three-wheelers.
• The speed limit for two-wheelers and motorbikes has been fixed at 50-60km/hr on highways and flyovers. However, it is further reduced to 30km/hr on service roads.
• While the maximum speed ​​limit for cars on DND is 70km/hr, it is 60km/hr for two-wheelers.
• Both cars and bikes cannot cross 30km/hr when they are going on roads inside residential and commercial markets.
• Similarly, they cannot go beyond the prescribed speed limit of 60km/hr on Barpula flyover.
• The maximum speed limit has been fixed at 60km/hr on the airport road. It applies to both cars and bikes.
• Cars cannot cross the speed of 70km/hr on Delhi to Noida toll road. The speed limit is 60km/hr for bikes on the same road.
• The speed limit is 50km/hr for both cars and bikes on Ring Road – Azadpur to Changdi Ra Chowk via Model Town.

If an individual is found to drive his/her vehicle within 5% of prescribed limits, he/she will be excused. On the other hand, if the vehicle’s speed limit is beyond the maximum speed limit, the vehicle owner will be punished as it is a cognizance of the offence.
