Delhi Metro introduces Tourist Smart Cards for G20 Summit visitors

In an endeavour to enhance the experience of international delegates and tourists attending the upcoming G20 Summit in Delhi, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has unveiled a convenient solution – the ‘Tourist Smart Card.’

These specialized cards are designed for hassle-free city travel. They will be available for purchase at selected metro stations during a 10-day window beginning September 4.

The Tourist Smart Cards come in two variants: One-day validity and three-day validity options.

Priced at ₹200, the one-day card allows unlimited rides on Delhi’s extensive metro network.

For those seeking an extended stay and more exploration, the three-day validity card is available at ₹500, which includes a refundable security deposit of ₹50.

To ensure seamless travel, Tourist Smart Cards provide unrestricted access to the entire metro network, with no penalties or surcharges for entry/exit mismatches or overstay within the system.

To further assist visitors in navigating the city, the Delhi Metro Rail offers an app that provides complete and detailed information about the metro network.

Within the app, a dedicated ‘Tour Guide’ section presents a list of all metro stations and nearby tourist attractions, aiding tourists in planning their journeys effectively.

For the convenience of G20 Summit attendees and tourists, these Tourist Smart Cards will be available at dedicated counters in 36 metro stations across the city.

These stations include prominent locations such as Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazar, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk etc.

As the G20 Summit in Delhi approaches, the Northern Railway anticipates that over 300 trains will be affected.

Hence, these Tourist Smart Cards serve as a valuable resource for international visitors. Besides, these cards also contribute to the city’s efforts in accommodating the influx of delegates during this important event.

With the introduction of these cards, Delhi Metro aims to offer an efficient and cost-effective mode of transportation to tourists.

In this way, it would like to enable summit attendees and tourists to explore Delhi’s vibrant and culturally rich city while attending the G20 Summit.
