In the wake of increasing COVID-19 cases in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called an all-party meeting today.

Delhi has been witnessing a spurt in the number of coronavirus cases for the last few weeks. In this situation, CM Arvind Kejriwal wants to discuss COVID-19 situation in Delhi, hence he called an all-party meeting.

The Delhi government invited leaders of BJP, Congress and other parties to join the meeting. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders will also participate in this. The meeting will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. today.

The CM expressed that there are enough beds for COVID-19 patients to meet the demand. However, there is a shortage of ICU beds and the government is trying to solve it.

Earlier CM Kejriwal said that his government sent a proposal to the central government seeking permission to impose lockdown in the national capital due to increasing COVID cases.

However, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the government has no such plans for imposing lockdown as of now.

He removed all speculations saying that the government has no plans for lockdown or mini lockdown across Delhi. He added that the public is gathering due to the festivals and expects a decrease in crowds after that.

When asked about the proposal of lockdown sent to the central government, he said that the government has only asked for an exemption from the rules of the Home Ministry to control the public gatherings.

Sisodia also said that lockdown is not the solution to COVID-19, but seeking ways to control public crowds across the markets will help control the transmission of the disease.

In this context, Health Minister Satyendar Jain also said that not lockdown, but precautions of the public help prevent the spread of transmission. People should have to follow COVID-19 norms in public places to protect themselves.
