The poll schedule for Delhi Assembly elections has been announced by the Election Commission of India.

The elections for Delhi Assembly will be held on February 8, 2020, in a single phase. The counting will take place on February 11, 2020, and the results will be declared on the same day.

The Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora announced the poll schedule for Delhi Vidhan Sabha in a press conference yesterday. He said that all measures have been taken to improve the voter turnout.

The Model Code of Conduct came into force in the national capital immediately.

The complete poll schedule for Delhi Assembly elections is as follows:

Notification will be issued on January 14. The last date for filing nomination is January 21 and scrutiny of nominations will take place on the next day, i.e. January 22.

Candidates can withdraw their nominations before January 24 since it is the last date.

Date of polling is February 8 and the date of counting is February 11. The final result will be announced on the same day.

EC has introduced a new concept of absentee voters for people with physical disabilities and who are above 80 years of age.

The new concept facilitates people to use their vote even though they are not able to come to polling stations due to physical disabilities or any unavoidable reasons.

These people can either vote in person or vote through postal ballot. They will also have a pick-up and drop facility if they want to vote at the polling centre.

The guidelines will be included to identify such voters, the manner of outreach, the method of collection of such votes and voting in the specified centres in every constituency.

The total number of voters in final electoral roll till date is 1,46,92,136. Polling will be held at 13,750 polling stations. 90,000 officials will be deployed for the elections.
