The Indian government announced the PM-KISAN scheme for farmers. Under this scheme, farmers will be given ₹6,000 per year. Now, a similar scheme has been announced by the Chhattisgarh government for landless families.

The scheme, Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Bhoomihin Krishi Majdoor Nyay Yojna, will be launched for agricultural labourers. It will be launched as part of the series of the NYAY scheme (the minimum income support scheme).

Chhattisgarh government launched Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojna for farmers in the past. It is a direct money transfer scheme to benefit farmers. Under the scheme, paddy farmers will get ₹10,000 and sugarcane farmers will get ₹13,000 per acre. Now, the government decided to launch a scheme for landless families in the state.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced the scheme under which landless families will get financial assistance of ₹6,000 per year. He said that ₹200 crores will be allocated for this scheme in the supplementary budget of 2021-22. The budget was passed in the legislative assembly on Wednesday.

The scheme aims to benefit people who do not have agricultural land but depend on agriculture and MGNREGA workers in rural areas. Besides, the scheme also assists different sections of rural people like barbers, blacksmiths, dhobis, and priests.

The scheme is implemented from the current financial year. The CM said that the government has been supporting farmers in many aspects. He added that even though the central government had not bought the entire agreed rice stock from the state, the state government bore the loss for the farmers.

He said that while the Centre was supposed to buy 60 lakh metric tons of rice from the state, it only bought 24 lakh MT. Due to this, the state government had to auction the remaining rice stock at a loss.
