In order to improve global cyber security and improve the digital economy, India and the US have committed to better cooperation on cyber security issues.

Together, they identified various opportunities to improve collaboration on cyber security capacity building, cyber security researching and development, fighting off cybercrimes, better governance of internet, and better international security.

Furthermore, India and USA are also making plans to pursue many follow on activities to improve the two countries’ cyber security partnership. They believe that the combined effort can provide strong results.

This announcement was issued in a joint statement which was issued after a two day 2015 India-United States Cyber Dialogue. This was the fourth in series of the government Cyber Dialogue.

It was led by the US Cybersecurity Coordinator and Special Assistant to the President Michael Daniel and by India’s Deputy National Security Advisor Arvind Gupta.

These delegations have so far discussed many cyber issues. They discussed about cyber security information sharing, managing cyber incidents, cooperating with cyber security in the context of ‘Make in India’, measures needed to fight cybercrime, and norms of state behavior as per cyberspace.

Various policy recommendations are submitted by the industry leaders from the US, highlighting the need to defend cross border data flow, cut cybersecurity threats and many more related issues. The next round of the Cyber Dialogue will be held in Delhi in 2016.
