In the wake of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the West Bengal government has directed private hospitals to provide free treatment to patients. The government will reimburse the cost of the treatment as per the approved rates and package.

The order states that private hospitals cannot deny COVD-ID-19 patients as referred by the state government.

Besides, all private hospitals should have to display a notice that reads the treatment to the patients is completely free and the entire cost will be borne by the government of West Bengal.

As per the latest data of the government, the total COVID-19 cases are 456 while 15 people have died due to this.

Four districts – Kolkata, Howrah, East Midnapore and North 24 Parganas are in the red zone. Nine districts are under the green zone while 11 are in the orange zone.

The government also announced a new scheme Prachesta to the daily wage labourers as they lost their livelihood. The scheme will be effective from April 15 to May 15, 2020.
