Swiggy expands essential services | Fusion - WeRIndia

Food delivery startup Swiggy announced the expansion of the delivery of essential services and groceries to more than 125 cities across India.

As people are experiencing difficulties in getting essentials including groceries, Swiggy started Swiggy Genie in 15 cities across the country. Now it decided to expand its services to more cities.

Swiggy Genie helps purchase essentials from a particular store. This service is limited to the delivery of essential items including groceries, vegetables, fruits, and over-the-counter medicines to consumers.

Swiggy users can avail this feature on the app under the ‘Grocery’ tab. In order to supply branded products and food items to people, Swiggy partnered with entities like HUL, Godrej, Dabur, P&G, Marico, Adani Wilmers, Vishal Mega Mart, Cipla and other stores.

Consumers can view the available stores in their area on the app and can select the items they want through the ‘Grocery’ category. All these items can be added to their cart to make payment. They can choose ‘No-contact’ delivery.

Swiggy COO Vivek Sunder says that essential services have been a part of their long-term strategy, yet they offered the services at a faster pace to benefit their customers. To help their customers get all these essential products safety and conveniently in the time of need, they expanded these services.

Last year Swiggy launched Swiggy Go, a pickup and drop off service through which laundry, forgotten keys, documents and lunch boxes will be sent.

But, now with the expansion of Grocery and Genie, Swiggy wants to address the issues of consumers as well as retailers and delivery partners.
