How to know your ITR-V reached to Income Tax Department

It is very essential for Income Tax payers to know whether their ITR-V is received by Income Tax Department to get refunds. Furthermore, if the form did not reach IT department, they won’t be assessed even if the tax returns are filed.

Normally ITR-V is sent by the post to the central processing unit of Income Tax Department in Bengaluru. It can be sent by ordinary post or registered post. The Tax payers can send them in speed post if they wish, but couriers are not allowed.

After filing the returns, it is essential for the assessees to send it to the department as soon as possible. This is because the form should reach IT department within 120 days. The IT department takes at least 4 weeks to acknowledge the ITR-V.

With the following procedure, one can know the status of his/her ITR-V:


  • Go to the website of income tax.
  • Click on the option ITR-V Receipt Status.
  • Fill your Pan Card details.
  • Choose the Assessment year.
  • Enter the number in the image.
  • Then, you will know your form status.
  • Check the reasons, if your income tax refund is getting delayed.
