Features of the new e-fling portal

Several taxpayers file their income tax returns on their own without depending on tax consultants. Sometimes, they have to encounter problems with the income tax website or find it difficult to fill in the columns provided for details while filing their returns.

To ease the tax filing process, the Income Tax Department launched a new ITR e-filing 2.0 portal. The new portal was launched on June 7, 2021, for the taxpayers.

Here is a list of features of the new e-fling portal:

  • The IT Department launched a new web portal for taxpayers to ease the filing process and make it simple and faster.
  • The new e-fling website offers many services like e-verify, e-pay tax, linking Aadhaar with PAN, verify PAN, and many more.
  • Taxpayers can also update profile easily on this portal. It is available on the right side of the home screen.
  • The E-filing option is available right on the home screen. Users have to click on the ‘File your ITR’ option to fill in the necessary details.
  • There are multiple methods to pay income tax.
  • Simple and easy to use ITR utility is available.
  • A chatbot facility is available.
  • Mobile Application is also available for both Android and iOS users.
  • There are multiple options to log in to the website. It assures secure login as well.
  • The dashboard is designed user-friendly.
  • Users can find improved help section with multiple manual videos on using the website.
  • Wizard-based assistance is provided in ITR selection. Pre-filed ITRs are available.
  • The portal also enables the IT Department to connect with taxpayers to know their problems. They can also solve them faster.
  • Taxpayers can submit their problem in the space allotted for it on the home screen. They can also get in touch with the concerned officials to solve it quickly.

However, several users faced glitches and complained that the portal takes too much time to log in to the portal. They requested the IT Department to fix these issues.
