Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana for students

If you are a merit student and are seeking to pursue research in science, then try to succeed in Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) fellowship program.

This national level scholarship program is funded by the Department of Science and Technology to encourage students move research careers in the basic science.

The application forms for KVPY was released by IISC on July 11, 2018 and the last date for its submission is August 31, 2018.

The exam will be conducted online by IISC, Bangalore on November 4, 2018. And the results will be announced in the first week of December 2018.


There are three streams – SA, SB and SX in KVPY program with different educational qualification for each stream.

The eligibility for SA stream is as follows: The candidates should have enrolled in Science stream in class 11 and must have secured at least 75 percent marks in class 10 with Science and Mathematics. However, candidates in reserved categories like SC/ST/PwD are eligible if they secure 65 percent marks.

SX stream is for students who have taken admission in Science stream in class 12 and want to choose Science in their graduation. They will receive this fellowship or scholarship provided that they have scored 60 percent in general category and 50 percent in reserved categories in Mathematics and Science in class 12 in addition to securing at least 75 percent marks in class 10 with Science and Mathematics.

SB stream is meant for first year graduation students who have chosen Science subjects. The academic percentage in plus 2 is same as SX stream students and they should secure 60 percent marks in their first year graduation as well.

The eligible students will receive ₹5,000 as monthly stipend in addition to ₹20,000 annual contingency grant in their graduation. They will also receive ₹7,000 as monthly stipend in addition to ₹28,000 annual contingency grant in their post graduation.
